How do I shrink the pagefile.sys file?

Rating
+ 5 -
Basically pagefile.sys represents the Windows virtual memory file. You can shrink it or increase it by setting the virtual memory in Windows manually. In order to do this you can right-click on "My Computer" or "Computer" icon on your Desktop and choose Properties menu. From the newly opened window, choose "Advanced" menu and then click the Settings button next to the Performance section of the window. From there, you can press the Change button in the "Virtual Memory" section. Uncheck the "Automatically manage paging file for all drives", insert the size for the pagefile.sys in the "Custom size". I recommend using the same amount to be used in both the "Initial size" and "Maximum size", and that amount should be equal to 1.5x the existing amount of RAM memory on the computer.
